1. Khái quát kiến thức về so sánh hơn

So sánh hơn trong tiếng Anh được sử dụng khi so sánh giữa 2 người, 2 sự việc hay sự vật, hiện tượng nào đó. Trong đó so sánh hơn được chia thành 2 loại là: So sánh với tính từ ngắn và so sánh với tính từ dài. Dưới đây là khái quát các công thức về so sánh hơn giúp bạn làm bài tập được dễ dàng hơn.

1.1. Loại so sánh hơn với tính từ ngắn

So sánh hơn có 2 cách sử dụng đó là khi so sánh dùng với 2 người hoặc 2 vật khác nhau.

Cấu trúc: S + to be + adj + er + than + N/ Pronoun

Ví dụ:

Tuan is taller than me. (Tuấn cao hơn tôi)
She worked harder than him. (Cô ấy làm việc chăm chỉ hơn anh ấy.)

1.2. Loại so sánh hơn với tính từ dài, trạng từ

Cấu trúc: S + V + more/less + adj/adv + than + N/pronoun

Ví dụ:

This issue is even more complicated than that one. (Vấn đề này thậm chí còn phức tạp hơn cả vấn đề kia)
My mother drives more carefully than my father do. (Mẹ tôi lái xe cẩn thận hơn bố tôi lái)

2. Cần lưu ý khi sử dụng công thức so sánh hơn

Trong so sánh hơn thì sau “than” là một đại từ nhân xưng được làm chủ ngữ chứ không phải tân ngữ
Trong trường hợp so sánh một người hay với tất cả số lượng thì người hay vật còn lại sẽ thêm Else sau Anything/Anybody

Ví dụ: She is taller than anybody else in the school. (Cô y cao hơn bất kỳ ai khác trong trường.)

Với mệnh đề quan hệ, chủ ngữ đằng sau “than” hay “as” có thể bỏ được nếu 2 chủ ngữ này giống nhau
Cấu trúc not as…as = cấu trúc not so…as để sử dụng trong so sánh không bằng nhưng as…as không được thay thế bằng so…as
