1. Ôn tập lý thuyết về giới từ

1.1. Khái niệm giới từ là gì?

Giới từ trong tiếng Anh - Preposition, hay còn được viết tắt là Pre, là các từ hoặc cụm từ dùng để diễn đạt mối quan hệ giữa cụm từ sau nó với các thành phần khác trong câu, từ đó giúp bạn hiểu rõ ngữ cảnh, nghĩa của câu văn. 

Ví dụ.

• The dog is lying in the kennel. (Con chó đang nằm trong chuồng.)

=> Giới từ in diễn tả vị trí mà hành động nằm của chú chó đang diễn ra.

• The weather in summer is very hot and uncomfortable. (Thời tiết vào mùa hè rất nóng và khó chịu.)

=> Giới từ in diễn tả thời gian xảy ra của thời tiết ta muốn nói

Khái niệm giới từ là gì?

1.2. Giới từ kết hợp với những từ loại nào?

Trong tiếng Anh, theo sau giới từ phải là các từ hoặc cụm từ, sau giới từ không được là mệnh đề. Sau giới từ có thể là những từ loại sau:

• Danh từ, cụm danh từ

Ví dụ. table, chair, water, old street, new house…

• Tân ngữ

Ví dụ. you, him, her, them…

• Danh động từ (Gerund)

Ví dụ. living, swimming, skiing, shopping…

1.3. Phân loại giới từ

Giới từ trong tiếng Anh khá đa dạng và được chia thành các loại như sau:

• Giới từ chỉ thời gian: Diễn tả thời điểm xảy ra của sự việc

Ví dụ. on Sunday, in winter, at 9 a.m…

• Giới từ chỉ nơi chốn: Nói về địa điểm, vị trí của sự vật, sự việc

Ví dụ. at school, on the street, behind the door…

• Giới từ chỉ sự chuyển động, phương hướng: Biểu thị hướng đi, sự chuyển động của sự vật, đối tượng

Ví dụ. through the window, across the road, along the coastline…

• Cụm giới từ

Ví dụ. be out of, be about to, …

Phân loại giới từ

1.4. Vị trí giới từ trong câu

Trong tiếng Anh, giới từ có thể được đặt ở những vị trí sau:

• Đứng sau động từ “tobe” và đứng trước danh từ

Ví dụ. The desk is next to the bookshelf. (Cái bàn học ở bên cạnh giá sách.)

• Đứng động từ thường

Ví dụ. I work at WM company. (Tôi làm việc tại công ty WM )

• Đứng sau danh từ để bổ nghĩa cho từ đó

Ví dụ. The meeting of the committee. (Buổi họp của hội đồng.)

• Đứng sau tính từ 

Ví dụ. I’m good at English. (Tôi học giỏi môn tiếng Anh.)
